YMCA East Surrey’s Boccia Club goes from strength to strength with Sport England’s nationally recognised Clubmark.
The process started back in April 2015 when the Boccia Club gained its Level 1 Accreditation with Boccia England. This was down to the hard work of both players and volunteers at the club. The award demonstrated that the club provides a safe and fun environment for people with disabilities to learn a new sport.
In August 2015, the club started the process of becoming Clubmark accredited, hoping to improve player pathways and development even further.
Clubmark is a nationally recognised award from Sport England. Having gained the Boccia England accreditation, the club was at a great starting point to evidence work and policies to the assessment panel on 21 October. As part of the process the club was inspected to be told that they had passed with ‘flying colours’! It turns out that the club was one of only two clubs to pass, and is the first and, so far, only Boccia Club in England to hold this award!
