We have recently overhauled and reopened our outside play area which will benefit many local children, including those who use our Sports and Community Centre in Redhill.
The project was made possible thanks to a £63,415 grant from Biffa Award; a multi-million-pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK, as part of the Landfill Communities Fund.
The new play area, which was awarded funding under Biffa Award’s Recreation theme, will now provide a safe but exciting outside space all year round.
Mike Roberts, Out of School Childcare, Sports & Recreation Manager for YMCA East Surrey said:
“The remodelled play area is fantastic, providing a great opportunity for the children to explore the natural environment and stimulate their creativity and imagination. It has been a real hit already and the children are thoroughly enjoying being out in the fresh air. The completion has been very timely with the weather beginning to improve and we will get great use out of the new equipment over the summer.”
Gillian French, Biffa Award Head of Grants, said: “At Biffa Award we love supporting projects which enhance recreation facilities for children and young people, such as the transformation of this play area. It is great to see the difference our funding has made.”
