It isn’t just serious runners who are welcomed at the annual YMCA East Surrey Fun Run in Reigate’s Priory Park on Sunday 30 April.
“The main aim is participation,” says YMCA Chief Executive, Ian Burks, “and we would like as many families as possible to join in on the day, whatever your fitness level!”
This year’s event will take place on Sunday 30 April, with races for adults and children of all abilities. The adult 5 mile race follows a loop on local lanes whilst the adult and junior 1 mile fun runs stay within the grounds of the beautiful park. All participants will receive an exclusive YMCA race technical t-shirt and commemorative medal.
YMCA East Surrey is working in partnership with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council who will host their Festival of Sport alongside the Fun Run. With taster sessions and demonstrations from local sports clubs, a climbing wall, trampolines, bouncy castle and lots of event stalls, it is a perfect family day out for everyone to enjoy and try something new.
There will also be prizes for the best fancy dress in each race. So why not stand out from the crowd and get creative with your outfits!
Anyone wishing to take part in the YMCA East Surrey Fun Run can book their places online now. Limited entries will be accepted on the day subject to numbers, but runners are urged to book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
All money raised will go to YMCA East Surrey’s Life Change Fund which, in 2023, aims to support the charity’s Y-Bus Appeal.
Ian Burks says:
“The Pandemic has been really tough for young people. We have exciting plans to purchase a new ‘Y-Bus’ – a mobile youth club on wheels to reach young people in areas where there is little or no youth provision. This will not only help young people to succeed and reach their potential, but will help to strengthen families, support schools and tackle issues such as crime and anti-social behaviour, helping to keep communities happy and safe.”
