YMCA East Surrey’s After School Club, Y-Kids, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Y-Kids, which is run from Princes Road in Redhill, provides affordable, quality childcare for working parents every weekday during term-time. The club aims to encourage and support children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
At the recent inspection, Y-Kids impressed the Government’s education watchdog so much that it has been awarded an even higher rating than its previous inspection six years ago.
The YMCA’s club, which caters for four to eight year olds, was praised for its ‘inspirational and highly motivated’ staff.
The report, published this week, added that the 30 place club gives children access to an ‘excellent range of very good quality play resources’ as well as giving them a chance to play outside.
Inspector Janet Thouless said: “The highly stimulating areas and organised activities give children the confidence to made independent choices in their play to promote their independence.”
“Overall, staff ensure that children understand the importance of leading healthy lifestyles to support their physical well-being and good health.”
“Management and staff share a wide range of information with parents about the activities and service on offer. Parents comment that they are very happy with the service and the range of information staff provide.”
