YMCA East Surrey’s qualified youth workers engage with young people throughout East Surrey. We aim to support young people who display risk factors linked to them becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or offending, by helping them reach their full potential.
Street Talk is our extensive detached youth work programme. Working in the heart of local communities engaging young people in their space, with a view to building up a rapport, offering information, advice and guidance, as well as organising activities and promoting the local youth offer.
Our Y Bus is a new mobile youth service bringing activities and support to young people in their local communities. The Y Bus has a small seating area inside and is fitted with a games console, iPad, TV and free WiFi. With its own generator and kitchen facilities, it can run a microwave and a toaster and provide hot drinks and other refreshments. It will provide a focal point for activities, as well as information, advice and guidance on issues such as staying safe, peer pressure and mental wellbeing. This fantastic new resource has been funded by YMCA Challenge Participants and Safer Streets funding from the Home Office.
The Y Bus will move around Redhill between the town centre, Memorial Park and Cromwell estate depending on attendance of young people. Look out for the Y Bus and our youth workers in and around Redhill at the following times:
