During the half term week, 47 different children with disabilities and complex needs attended YMCA East Surrey’s Yippee Playscheme, leading to a total 624 hours of Short Breaks care.
Children attending the Playscheme had a wonderful time taking part in Halloween themed activities, including pizza making, pumpkin carving and enjoying a fancy dress Halloween party. They particularly loved their outing to Bocketts Farm, where members of the group stroked some of the small animals, took a spin around the go-cart track or tried their hand at the milking machine.
The Yip4Youth holiday scheme was busy too, with 26 different young people attending with disabilities and complex needs and a total of 318 hours of care provided. Throughout the week, the group went cycling in Bushy Park and swimming at the Triangle. They made Halloween crafts, tried their hand at face painting and also enjoyed a fancy dress Halloween party
YMCA East Surrey would like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers and Playworkers who helped out last week and made all the activities such fun for those attending.
“We have vacancies available at the moment for Playworkers to help us support local children and young people with disabilities,” says Short Breaks Manager, Stuart Cox. “These are available to anyone, from under 18’s upwards, who is looking for fun, rewarding and flexible work. Our Playworkers are a fantastic and vital component of everything we do and many of them tell us how much they enjoy their work.
