Brecon Beacons Fan Dance Challenge

Ever fancied yourself in the SAS? Now you have the chance! You’ll be climbing 4,600 ft as you traverse along the rugged Fan Dance mountain route in the stunning Brecon Beacons used for the infamous SAS selection course.
This one-day 15-mile trek will cover 6 summits; Pen y Fan, Cribyn, Fan y Big, Craig Cwareli, Corn Du and Craig y Fan Ddu with a vehicle support stop and exit route at 7 miles if the going gets too tough.
We will offer free training walks and guidance, ensuring you gain all the skills needed to make this an event to remember! This event is open to ages 18+.

Cost includes all transport, two nights YHA accommodation, all meals, support, bespoke t-shirt and medal.
Free training
Everyone taking part in the Fan Dance challenge can also access free fitness/walking training sessions once a month on Sundays and every Wednesday evening on the North Downs in Reigate. These training sessions will start in 2025. All are welcome to attend, whether you are booked on a YMCA Challenge Event or not.
Fundraising Information
To keep event fees affordable, the entry fee purely covers the cost of the event. The minimum sponsorship target for this event is £500pp which will go towards our Life Change Fund set up to help young people belong, contribute and thrive through YMCA East Surrey’s charitable projects.
