Ride The Alps ‘Everest on a Bike’

Take on the mighty Everest and cycle 221 miles climbing 29,174 feet (8,892m) in the French Alps over three days!
From our hotel base in Le Bourg d’Oisans, we’ll cycle up 8 iconic Tour de France mountains (Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes, Col d’Ornon, La Morte, Col du Glandon, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier). At the top of each col, your Ride the Alps passport will be stamped by our support crew. After completing all 8 mountains you will get the official YMCA Challenge medal and a custom-designed cycle jersey.
This is a fully supported ride, with two vehicles offering tea, coffee, drinks, lunch at scenic spots along the route, as well as mechanical support, spare bike and encouragement. All bikes will be safely transported by our support crew to the start point and brought home after the challenge. This event is open to ages 18+.
We will offer free training rides and guidance, ensuring you gain all the skills needed to make this an event to remember!

Free training
Join our free training cycle rides and walks – whether you are taking part in a YMCA Challenge or not!
We strongly encourage you to take advantage of our free training. Not only will it ensure you are fully prepared and help you build mileage for your challenge, but it will give you an opportunity to meet fellow challengers and the rest of the team. We advise you to do as much as you can in addition to our training programme – the more you do, the more you will really enjoy your experience!
Our cycling training rides are free and all are welcome, even if you are not taking part in an event. So feel free to bring family and friends with you. All abilities are welcome!
Fundraising Information
All money raised from our 2025 challenge events will go towards our Life Change Fund set up to help transform young lives in East Surrey.
The £895 entry fee purely covers the cost of the event and our minimum sponsorship amount is £600pp to help young people belong, contribute and thrive through YMCA East Surrey’s charitable projects. Alternatively, we offer a single payment of £1,495 which includes this as a donation.
